I bought the lousy product anyway, sent in the rebate, EXACTLY as instructed, and it was denied, just as I knew it would be.
I called the number given on the rebate refusal notice, which gave no additional information. I then contacted their customer service, but my Hindi is a little rusty and it is nearly impossible to find an English-speaking operator at Trendnet, who is fluent in English. I hear it's just as difficult for French, Spanish, and others as well.
After trying to contact the company by phone and by the web (all failed to reach someone who could answer my questions), I turned to business records of Trendnet.
I see Trendnet even posted on this site with a phony name and response! There is no head of marketing by the name given here, and whoever posted is a liar! Trendnet deals with their own rebates!
This company does not pay any rebates, yet they use false and misleading advertising schemes to persuade would-be customers to purchase their poor-quality products with the promise of a rebate.
This practice continues to be a great source of illegal revenue for Trendnet, and there is no end in site. I intend to sue, as others should.
I give this company's rebate grade an F. If it were possible, they should receive a lower grade, but this will suffice. Trendnet is given a FAILING grade and should never be trusted to obey the law and abide by written contracts. They will breach their contracts every chance they get! The $12 rebate, with stamps, envelopes, paper, printer ink and time... will be negligable when all is said and done. But that's the game and was well aware of it going in.
To discourage potential fraud of both customers and Trendnet themselves, Trendnet should be made aware of non-acknowledgements and non-receipts directly. First call to the customer service said they couldn't do anything for me. Second call was answered by someone who I could barely understand. I finally gathered from him that he would allow me to send them a copy of the UPC for resubmission. Naturally I didn't make a copy because I thought situations like these wouldn't happen.
Unable to resubmit anything, surprisingly about a week later I received a message from a floor supervisor saying that they've resubmitted my rebate and will be processed according to the typical time frame.
I'll give them credit for the automatic resubmission, but the fact that they "claimed" no UPC was submitted was ridiculous.

I ANALLY packaged my stuff for getting the rebate. I KNOW 100% I put in the UPC (original cut from the box).
I used scotch tape on the back of the envelope, and put 2 stamps on the envelope. (Just in case it was too heavy).
It was on 2 seperate (different products) items. Got 2 letters in the mail that "Your UPC was not received".
I have copies, but that's besides the point.
I called them. I told them there was 0.00 % chance the ORIGINAL UPC code was not in the box.
After getting no resolution, I told them that either the people who open the envelopes are incompotent, OR they are a SCAM outfit.
TRENDNET = REBATE SCAM !
Don't buy a TrendNet product with the Rebate $$$ in your consideration. 2 week later, I received letter and told me 'submission did not include any UPCs', the original UPC was missing. I have to write a letter with the photocopy of UPC and Box picture that I cut UPC from it. One week later, I received second letter and told me same problem 'submission did not include any UPCs'. Then I called rebate center 1-800-679-9869 and talked to someone, he said he understand my situation and promised that the problem was solved and rebate check will be issued 4 week later.
But today, I received the third letter and still told me
'submission did not include any UPCs', I really feel that the guy at rebate center lie to me and I called them one hour before, and someone told me that they can not commucation with me.
It is a bad dream,this is only $10 rebate, and I mailed two letters and call rebate center twice.

The fraud is simple, demand the orginal UPC then deny getting it. Tell consumer they can resolve by sending in orginal UPC, of course there is no orginal UPC because you mailed it in.
