Refused my refund, said I completed it incorrectly. I have copies, so I know they are lying. A customer service rep and her manager had conflicting stories of what the scan showed on my account, so another lie. I am writing letters and sending pictures to everyone. Office Depot, Nova, and Berlitz. Worst lying customer service I've ever experienced.

I bought a cheap HP desktop computer two years ago with a rebate from both HP and Office Depot. The instructions were very complicated, but I did receive both. After that, bought a Viewsonic LCD TV from OfficeDepot with a rebate of either 200 or 250. About 3 months later I received a letter I had not submitted the UPC Code. The letter had a phone number. I told them I still had the box with the UPC code cut out which I stapled to the rebate form and mailed. They told me to take a digital picture of the back of the TV and send it in. I did, and I received nothing. More recently I bought a slimline HP desktop with two rebates; one from HP and one from Office Depot. I copied everything. This was many, many months ago. I looked it up at Office Depot..it was pending..now of course it says "error in submission". HP has no record of it (I trust HP a lot more, actually from what I have read.). I am sure it will say I did not mail it in time or some other bogus information. It says I must return the information by August 22 (resubmit), but it says it has not mailed anything out to me about it today which is the 5th. Great policy! This was close to 300 dollars or something, and I would not have bought this computer without the rebates. I will fight this one. For me, this is worth my time. You can email me.  Purchased two Maxx GPS with a rebate. Store clerk gave instructions on getting rebates. Rebate center refused to pay second rebate, said only one per household. Store clerk did not inform me of that and issued two separate rebate forms. Office Depot refused to pay the seoond rebate. Beyond time that I was a able to return the item for refund because the rebate response was so long, 8-10 weeks. I have not been back as a customer to Office Depot in the Birmingham, AL area. And will not return. Have lost this customer due to UNFAIR rebate practices.

I was actually paying the cashier and getting ready to leave the store on a Sunday (Ward Center) when the cashier said to me, "We have 19" monitors on sale right there." I was amazed by the price--yes after the rebate, so I decided on the spot to buy one. I foolishly waited a few days before filing out the rebate as I wanted to make sure the monitor indeed worked. Well, it turns out the rebate's last day was the Sunday I bought it! I tried to get it and explained what happened when I wrote the company and sent in the rebate. After they naturally rejected me, I went to the store manager, he said no and sorry but there was nothing he could do. I have never been back to Office Depot--I've decided on Walmart--cheaper and I have no expectations.
ViewC  77Office DepotHP Printer$5032Lake Worth, FL2008-06-09
I purchased a HP portable printer in June of 2007. Rebate form clearly states that my printer was quailified for rebate. Sent in rebate and received a response that my printer was not an eligible printer for the rebate. Will I didn't make copies of all my paper work, shame on me. I don't lke being had. So a year later I ran into the paper work as I was cleaning my drawers out. So I decided to call Office Depot corporate offices in Delray Beach, FL. I got passed from one department to a second or third department. The 3rd person that I talked to worked in the Office of the Chairman of the Board! Whoa I never asked for that kind of horse power. Well she had me fax what I had to her for review (ps I lost my receipt!) She reviewed the info and instructed the Rebate line to honor my rebate that they had rejected, and within 3 weeks I had my HP rebate. I told her nicely that I felt taked and that I am responsible for technology purchases and the way I feel that I would rather give my business to Stapes. She was nice and took care of me. So my suggestion is to call the Corporate office if you really want action.

I didn't have the evidence and they weren't likely to provide it. Have to admit that was a pretty good one they pulled on me. But they lost a customer for life as I will never shop at any Office Depot ever again. Scam me once...

Several months ago I received notice from Office Depot's rebate submission center that items were missing from two of my submissions - I was stuck because I had not kept copies of that information to prove that it was included. I should have know better, but I was enticed by another rebate at Office Depot, $50 on a Brother Fax machine. This time I was very careful to copy EVERYTHING before sending the rebate in. Not surprisingly, I received a postcard in the mail telling me that yet AGAIN, there was something missing. I called the toll-free number, spoke with a representative and just now resubmitted a copy of the original information. I'm not confident that I'll ever see that rebate... Now after looking on the internet to see if anyone else has experienced this kind of a problem with Office Depot, I feel like we've all been scammed. Shame on Office Depot!!!

Being shy 2 weeks of my $200 rebate on my Toshiba, I checked my status on officedepot.com. The big problem is they are not asking for the Rebate Id #. They want the tracking number that is no where on the sales receipts or rebate submission. I was told to call 1800-go depot. After getting hung up on by automated questions, I finally demanded a person. She said I had to put in the tracking number (that wasn't on the receipt) and then my status would come up. I did and it stated my check was approved (which I printed out) which I would get in 3 weeks. The agent told me tracking no. are only put on online receipts so it wouldn't be on my sales receipt. She said all people have to call in to get this which I think is absurb. Anyway, I will wait 3 weeks, but at least I have a print out that my check was approved. I believe this is just one more way to discourage people from following up. But I haven't gotten the check yet, but do call the number I gave and they will give you a tracking number. GOOD LUCK TO ALL.

On November 22, 2007 I purchased a HP 1022ws Monochrome LaserJet Printer on the company's website for 249.99 which was advertised with 2 rebates of $150.00 costing 99.99 after rebates. After I purchased this item to be delivered to my work place the item was on back order for a week or two. After the holidays I filled out the rebate forms and sent them in at the beginning of Jan and several weeks later I received a post card for each rebate. One saying that the offer was only valid at Office Depot and the other said the request was not post mark within the time frame. If one rebate had an expiring date before the other then this is very misleading. If the other rebate is valid in a store only then why is it posted on their website. furthermore, because it was the holidays and because of the delay in the delivery there wasn't much time to mail in the rebates that were never honored.

My daughter and I each bought a set of 4 cordless American Telcom phones at Office Depot (a double whammy - both are among the worst) for $100 with a promise of a $100 rebate. Many months later all we have is the worst phones ever - a few no longer have any soound - and no rebate. I know they got my rebate because they sent me a postcard a few months later requesting my physical address. I had given them a PO Box because I live in a teeny town where there is no home mail delivery. The postcard provided a website at which to provide the information, but it would no let me send the info. So I called, was thanked, promised the rebate, and that was the last I heard - in October 2006. Office Depot never answered emails, and I couldn't find a working contact phone number. All their company contact information just sends you in circles. The instructions for submitting this rebate request were the worst ever. I received a handful of long receipts which I assumed were duplicates. They weren't - they were cross-referenced. In addition you had to activate the completely useless phone card (I have unlimited local and long distance) by calling a phone number, before a specified date, and write in at a hard to understand space on the rebate form the code number that the operator gave me when I called. I'm not brilliant but as a lawyer I get a fair amount of practice filling out forms and following instructions. At one point my daughter and I realized that we had mixed up the receipts and had to start over, because the cross-referencing was wrong. Unconscionable and disgusting.

I have no proof that it did show up online before so I disregarded it. They told me to wait another week and call back that it may have gotten lost in the mail. It has been nearly two months they should have had time to process it by now. I will have to resubmit info if it does not. But I see even people who resubmit still have problems. So outlook is glim.

Contacted store Manager, who said "we don't handle rebates"!  Just a warning about how Office Depot rebates. Mail your paperwork right away. Watch your rebate dates after purchase-there was about a 2 week turnaround from the time we bought our computer until the required postmark date. Due to being extremely busy with working & Christmas stuff & life, we missed the date by a week. I wouldn't call it a scam but very unreasonable time period and not indicated in the ad or by the employees. Our fault that we missed the date but I am not happy about Office Depot. We have lots of choices where we live so we will not shop there again. Tried to resolve on the phone but there was nothing that the very nice representative could do.

They had no reason for it not going through. The lady on the phone for Office Depot said sometimes they just get don't go through. She would only do two of my rebates and said I would have to do the third rebate after I received these. Today I have received the two (8 months after sending them in). I went on-line to check the status of my last rebate for $50.00 and it has disappeared!!! I will investigate further. Office Depot did this to me last year too. So I will never buy from them again. After calling them they'd say it was a mistake and overturn their decision or else make me resubmit them thus taking up to 6 months or longer to receive these. For those who believe that Office Depot is not behind this, consider the following: I've sent rebates to the SAME rebate processing company for other retailers and have had no problems, but 95% of the time with OD I have problems.  Fall 2006 Office Depot advertised in the metro Detroit paper if you purchased a qualifying Compaq Notebook and qualifying printer within 7 days you would receive a $300 rebate on the notebook and $70 on the printer. The $70 rebate was mailed to me, but not the one for $300. One offer was contingent on the other - either I was entitled to both checks or neither check, therefore the failure to mail me both rebates clearly was the fault of Compaq/HP rebate services. Searching the Internet I see that Fall 2006 the Compac Notebook offer in variations was made by Office Depot nationwide and dozen of others disgruntled Office Depot customers have posted that they ALSO never received the promised rebate(s). Office Depot in print promised their customers a rebate and upon reliance of that promise I purchased the said items. Failure of Compaq to mail the rebate does not exempt Office Depot of their duty to uphold the promise they made to me or the others. The fact that nearly daily identical posting are being made regarding this offer makes it possible to conclude that this was likely consumer fraud and consumer fraud charges should filed by authorities against both Office Depot and Compaq. Today for the second time I have contacted Office Depot customer service to see if they can readily resolve the problem.

I just checked the online Rebate Status today April 5th. My Office Depot rebates as far back as 2005 are still included in my search, BUT NOW THE APTIVA PHONE $25 REBATE OFFER HAS DISAPPEARED COMPLETELEY!! I have sent still another email message to Office Depot but honestly again expect no response. I will go to the local Office Depot next with the copies of my transaction. Also, it took FOUR MONTHS for me to receive a $200 Office Depot rebate for a Compaq Laptop that was purchased before Thanksgiving. Bottom line is I am going to no longer purchase from Office Depot, and instead buy from outlets like BEST BUY who have eliminated rebates and now just sell items at "Instant Savings" prices.

They have given me two dates and after each date I contacted the rebate center only to get another date. I would like to file an official complaint on this.

I'm ready to take this monitor back to the Office Depot where I bought it and throw it at someone. Office Depot contracts Young America, a company that employs only jerks without scruples, to administer their rebate program. What a runaround for $60.00! I bought within the time frame, mailed in all docs and have been told twice to resend (which I did). Now the rebate phone number is disconnected. Con artists! I'm writing to the CEO of Office Depot to tell him I'm glad his company profits are in the toilet.

Bought the Samsung Monitor Nov. 26, 2006, and immediately sent in my request for 2 rebates of $60 each to Samsung and Office Depot. The Samsung rebate was processed and received after about 14 weeks, which seems like too long, but I did receive it. When I sent an inquiry to Office Depot, they said they hadn't received it and to resubmit to a Resubmit address, which I did. That's been 7 weeks and I've gotten nothing. If they don't want to pay these rebates, they shouldn't advertise them. If they are legit, then why do they take 4-6 months to pay up? I will avoid companies which require rebates in the future, that's for sure, and probably Office Depot altogether. Who needs this aggravation?

I understand I am not alone. Office Depot advertised a total rebate of $500.00 on the Day after Thanksgiving door buster sale of a Haier 42" plasma. One $200.00 and one $300.00 rebate. I submitted all required info 3 weeks before the deadline and to date I have only received the $200.00 rebate. The rebate company that is handling these and many others for Office Depot can find no record of the submission. Even after it was faxed for a second time by the local Office Depot. I have been shuffled around by Office Depot leaving messages, sending emails but no resolution. I have copies of everything I sent and complete documentation of every person I've dealt with. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and the Federal Trade Commission. This is FRAUD! I have found many others who are in the same boat as I am. $300.00 is a lot of money.

Sent in a rebate for my laptop I purchased two weeks after I bought it and long before the rebate was up. Called them up 70 days later because I couldn't get any information on the website. I was told they lost my rebate and to send my copies in to the resubmit address. Sent it in, still no rebate 80 days later. Called again and was told they never received the rebate and that it was too late to resubmit the rebate because the rebate was over. I asked them if they could help me out or doing anything for me and was told they couldn't help me at all. I went to the store and they "returned" my laptop and bought it again so I could have a new receipt to send in the rebate again. Here we are over 40 days later and they still have not "received" my rebate! Called the 800 number and was told to wait a little longer and resubmit AGAIN if they don't get it. I asked them if they could do anything more for me and they said no. If you're going to buy something from Office Depot, assume you're going to spend the whole price before the Office Depot rebates, because you'll never see that Office Depot rebate!!!

The rebate showed up and sit there for another 5 weeks, called again and this time they said the submission was missing the receipt (???), we had to fax in everything once more, it's been 10 days and the rebate is still showing "missing receipt". When we mailed in the second time, they created a Rebate ID, after we faxed in the 3rd time, now we ave a new Rebate ID.  After not seeing anything online (rebate tracking), I was told to wait 60 days before inquiring whether or not they received my submission. I have no problem waiting X number of days for the actual rebate check, but confirming that they received the submission (and are processing) is half the battle. My experience is that it takes normally 4-6 weeks for submissions to show up (Staples, MacMall etc.). With Office Depot, you can't even inquire until 60 days! Well, they can't find my submission, and I was asked to re-submit in 30 days. The Office Depot store manager will not help.

I have completed two different computer rebates with them over the last three years. The first one was denied since another person in our apartment complex submitted the same rebate form. I was denied since it was stated on the form "one per address". It did not matter that this was from a different apartment and person. I fought quite a bit on that one, but they plain out refused. You would have thought I should have learned, but three years later, purchased another computer with a $150. rebate. After over 6 months, several phone calls and several more emails, I received several 'excuses' as to why I had not received my rebate: wrong address, wrong name spelling, etc, etc. Finally after 6+ months I did receive this one. I will NEVER do another rebate with this store again. They are a joke!

Buy things at Office Depot that aren't affected by rebates or at least wait until they have instant rebates. I waited ten weeks for my rebate but had to send many, many e-mails and then finally call Office Depot Corporate Headquarters to get the problem resolved. I am certain I would still be waiting had I not gotten in touch with a person in the executive office that heard my frustration and solved the problem. In my opinion nobody should have to go through this process unless they like run arounds. I honestly think Office Depot has great products and they just need to get a more efficient rebate system. I looked on this site and compared the office supply company, Staples, and they have a much better rating for rebates.

Two claims mailed 10/07/2006. Rebate status site showed neither for over a month. The computer tracking number arrived about five weeks later, however, the hard drive item hasn't. An email contact on 11/22 got a quick reply on 11/23 saying yes they had it and the check would be mailed in 2-3 weeks. Still can't see it on-line. I sent in the rebate on time and did not hear from them within the 8-10 weeks I was supposed to get a rebate check. I contacted Office Depot and was told my information was lost and to fax them in the copies (which I immediately did). Two weeks later and they're claiming it will take another month to get me a check. Here's the reason I'm on here: Not only did this happen to me, but my girlfriend who mailed in the exact same stuff in a seperate mail box / envelope and was told the exact same things I was. It was not a coincidence or rare mistake. Despite saying I wanted to talk to someone in English, their "customer service" is comprised of foreigners who cannot be understood (I've heard this from multiple people). I truly believe Office Depot is relying on the hope of not having to mail out checks out of apathy and frustration on the consumer's part. I will never shop there again.

When you call them they always tell you to resubmit. When you resubmit they ignore the resubmissions. It's a vicous circle with no resolution path other then Federal Trade Commission or Florida Attorney Generals Office. Shop Staples instead - their rebates aren't perfect but much better and they there is a resolution path.

This stage lasted almost 3 months until I finally called the center. They indicated that they will expedite the process and mail the check with 5-7 days. I will wait and see. The only way we can impact this SCAM is by boycotting these stores and purchase similar products at locations that do not involve rebates. I spoke to someone at the processing company and she said the scanner sometimes has problems reading the information and will kick it back as a non-compliance. She helped me with that one issue, but could not help with any othe rebates, I would have to call back, she could only do one at a time. My first email requests got 'we are sorry' responces. Office depot doesnot address the issue. The processing company has control at this time. This rebate program has cheated me out of 140.00 so far. Time frame is going into 90 and 120 days. They are hoping I will give up. They have the original bar code, copy of my receipt and the request form. How simple can it be to validate my purchase? I used to think the requirements were in place to combat fraud. Now I think the fraud is the whole rebate program.  I purchased an E-machines D5039 PC from Office Depot on 5/29/06. The "store advertised" rebates were $50 from E-Machines and (2) $150 rebates from Office Depot. The yellow sales placard said $649.98-$50-$150-$150=$299.98 At purchase, I received (3) rebate slips to fill out and send in, which I promptly did. (honestly, two identical rebate slips seemed fishy, but the sales clerk reassured me) I did receive a $50 rebate from E-machines and (1) $150 rebate from Office Depot. Of course that wasn't the deal, so I contacted the Office Depot Rebate Center to get matters clarified. I spoke to one fella and he said that the second rebate slip was a "glitch". Really, so the store placard was a glitch too? He was just a brainless employee, so what would be the use in trying to reason with him? Next, I filled out the email inquiry form at the Office Depot Rebate Center WEB site, explaining the details. What would you expect to receive in reply, the rebate? No, but apologies are easy. Here is the reply: "Thank you for visiting the Office Depot Rebate Center. We appreciate you letting us know you did not receive your request. Unfortunately, this offer is limited to one rebate household/business per the offer terms and conditions; therefore, we are unable to honor your additional requests. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused...Thanks you...have a great day!" Again, if the store advertisements said "X"; and the sale register printed out rebate slips for "X"; then saying that the offer is limited to one rebate/household is flat fraudulent. Office Depot has embraced dishonest business practices. Buyer Beware!

I purchased a HP all in one printer in April. I submitted the rebate that same day. I have not received it as yet. I contacted the company. They claimed they had sent the check, and put a stop on it. They said they would reissue. I have not received it. It is now August 14th.

Purchased all in one with the intention of only buying a scanner, salesman said there was a $100 rebate so in the end, I would be getting an all in one for about the price of a good scanner. Submitted my rebate 3 days later (that was end of march 2006, it's now August 8th and still no rebate check after numberous calls to Office Depot, the rebate center and after being told I would receive it in 3-5 days. Do not fall for their rebates, they are a ripoff and don't even deal with them, they contract the rebate services out to a company which I think hopes you will forget about your rebate.

I bought an emachine computer last February. I received the rebates from Canon and emachine already but not the one from Office Depot. I made several calls and emails to them. They said they got my wrong address and still got it wrong after I corrected it again. It's just very frustrating. I still haven't received it. I was told to wait for another 30 days.

Never received my rebate, its been 24 weeks now, the rebate center CSRs are the rudest I have ever encountered. I have spent so many hours on the phone trying to get them to state the reason that my rebate is not yet processed. The website shows it as in processing, but no one is willing to let me know why it is stuck in that status for so long.

It was again ordered on 3/14/06 and finally received but during the 3 day period OD cancelled the $50 rebate, they say!!! Now when I call after 4 months I am told the rebate is denied because the rebate was cancelled. Bad practice, bad business, bad ethics on OD part.

Bought a laptop for personal use of my daughter in Nov. 2005. The rebate form asked for my name and "company name" which I both supplied. Rebate check arrived made out to the "company name" but sent to my home address. I sent check back to be reprocessed and I included documentation and letter specifying the error. After couple of months, another check was issued and it WAS STILL MADE OUT TO THE COMPANY I WORK FOR!!!!! NO CORRECTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE!!! Second check was exactly the same as the first check!!!!I sent an email to the company but has not received any response. It's been 7 months since I first submitted the rebate request.

Sunday paper offered $50 and $30 rebate for Viewsonic monitor..Went to store Mon 3/13/06 and purchased it..after getting it from box, I could hear something falling on the inside..like a small screw...took it back 3/15/06 and got an even exchange...I mailed copies of both receipts and wrote "defective" on the first receipt..I complied with all the requirements..even the store told me no problem with the 3/15 date because original purchase was 3/13..never received the $50 rebate...called several times and told it would be processed...Now 4months later, I called today...now they tell me it was supposed to be an online purchase...not so...advertisied in Sunday paper and a big sign above the monitor in the store..I was told to resubmit it and they could still deny the rebate..as the fine print states on the form...I will never buy from Office Depot again....They are a scam who run false advertisements....

I submitted my rebate Dec 8, 2005. I called customer no service and was told there was no record of my $100 rebate form and the rep told me that it could be in a backlog of rebates to be processed. So I waited. I followed up May 8 and the rep told me the same story. The rep told me to resubmit my rebate. I asked for a fax # so I could fax a copy of my rebate to them. The rep told me that I had to send the rebate by mail and OD cannot accept fax. Most companies will accept fax and I suspected that OD was playing a delaying game. Not happy with the answer, I climed up the ladder and asked to speak to a supervisor. She gave me this fax number (1-800-532-1087). Office Depot claimed that they did not get my rebate. I can believe it if they did not get this rebate. But I also submitted three other Office Depot rebates using three different envelopes and mailing out on different days. Office Depot claimed that they did not get all three rebates!!!! You tell me...what are the chances of the USPO losing all three envelopes? Fast forward to July 3 2007. I called and the rep told me I had resubmitted the rebate too late and the rebate closed out in March 2007. I argued with the rep and he said there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to the supervisor. Long story short...She said she just OKed the rebate. What a scam!!!!! If I did not call and SCREAMED, the rebate would be denied! As far as I am concerned Office Depot is playing a delaying game in the hopes that you will forget or lose your rebate copy or have no will to fight back. I for one will not wake up early in the morning in freezing weather to stand in line for OD to open for the after Thanksgiving sale. SCREW OFFICE DEPOT. YOU JUST LOST A CUSTOMER FOR GOOD!

This is the worst company EVER! Do not deal with reabtes with them. I received $50 out of $120 worth of rebates. Had to contact the BBB, and then even their corportae response was incorrect. (They told me that I already received my rebate- anI only received one out of three! This has been one problem after another.

Recieved notification that other rebate was invalid becuase they had prosted a duplicate rebate form with wrong amount. And stated they would not honor $60 dollar rebate even though they posted it on thier web site.

In Nov. 2005, I carefully filled out the rebate form, making sure nothing was left out. Fearing the rather small UPC code would get separated from the rebate form at the rebate center, I taped it to an irrelevant part of the rebate form. Approx. 1 month later, I received a notification the a UPC was not enclosed! Luckily I had saved the receipt, UPC, and rebate form on my computer. I was instructed to mail the copy of the UPC which I did immediately. I waited many months, and decided to check their online site. It said invalid or something to that effect, stating the last postmark was near the end of December. Very unluckily, my computer crashed in March, and I lost everything on it, including all the rebate proof. I then called the company (on hold 20 minutes, only to be told the UPC was from a totally different product. I suppose it was possible I sent the wrong one, but what about my original??!! I was denied, and being irate at this point, I said there must be some crooked shenanigans going on there. The 'operator' blew up and asked what I was insinuating. I said somebody working there could be taking the UPC codes and somehow using them for their own benefit. She became very beligerant and nasty and hung up on me. You would think I was attacking her personally, and I was if she was the crooked one...lol. But the odds are against that. Does anyone else think there is something rather unseemly about all the complaints against OfficeDepot? All I know is they screwed me and I just made my last purchase at their store two days ago. Unfortunately, part of the purchase was a rebate. But that file in particular is backed up on my computer.
ViewF  53Office Depot$150 Toshiba rebate$150N/ADecatur, AL2006-05-01
I received MY Office Depot rebate rejection postcard today (there is a site FULL of other stories that are similar to mine): "...unfortunately your submission for the Office Depot rebate offer was invalid for the following reason(s): - Limit one rebate per Household/Business". I submitted ALL required forms - double checked all submission criteria - for the January '06 Toshiba laptop rebate: receipts, UPC's, serial numbers on time (the day after the purchase) and did make photocopies of all (I'd had trouble with previous Office Depot rebates.) I called the number on the postcard, was on hold for half an hour, was told that they do not handle rebates from before Oct. 05, and given another number to call. I was connected to the service for Circuit City rebates (!?); the representative there tried to be helpful by giving me Toshiba's online rebate site, but the Jan. rebate was no longer listed there. I checked the officedepot.com site, only to find that my rebate was invalid (they for some reason noted that the last postmark was 2/14/06 - a MONTH after I mailed it out); there was no way to respond to the finding online. When I again tried to call the original phone number printed on the postcard, I was cut off twice, and finally could not get through at all as "all circuits [were] busy". If they have a new service that handles their rebates, it does not appear to be doing any better job than the former service. This time, after having lost hundreds of rebate dollars this past fall on two eMachine bundles also sold by Office Depot, I WILL contact the Better Business Bureau AND forward this site on to them. The FTC, too. I teach and have all summer to deal with this (our central office will not allow us to use purchase orders there, either.) I have emailed Office Depot directly. Wish me luck; looks as if I (and everyone else) will need it. (do a google search for "office depot" + rebate + problem!!

Purchased bundle Aug. '05. Mailed cryptic rebate forms w/all req'd papers. Total $325 rebates. Got O.D. rebates promptly. After 5 mo. & repeat calls & emails, got 1 ($50) E-machines from Gateway Rebate Center, Niagara, NY. It's now late April, '06 and, after repeated submissions and calls, I'm still trying to get 2 more for $75. BEWARE OF GATEWAY REBATES!!! I've called 6 times this year and, each time, I've been told "The check's in the mail." Yeah, right.

(Product Name: Rebates for Office Depot) I reponded to Office Depot Rebate #0d4802015, after paying $650 for a Projector. The rebate form specifies I will receive my rebate within 90 days. I have called them numerous times, and was given a runaround, stating that they had the date of its postmark being Jan 5, 2006, when I mailed it on Dec 15, 2005, the day after I bought it. I found out it was a losing battle to fight over the postmark date, so I figured I would just have to wait the additional 3 weeks. It has now been 88 days from their ficticious postmark date and the rebait still hasn't been mailed. I was told by the rep that the check would be issued in 3-4 weeks. I told the rep that that was unacceptable since their 90 days have passed 3 weeks ago (postmarked 12/15/05). He said I would have to wait and there is nothing I can do about it. I asked for a supervisor, who told me she could restart the process, because the rebate was "stuck" in their system. I have found numerous "scam" complaints on them on the internet. On Nov. 7, Massachusetts officials filed suit against Young America to demand that it submit to an audit of $43 million in uncashed rebate checks. The company, headquartered in Young America, Minn., kept that amount of money from 1995 to mid-2002 in return for charging its clients lower fees, it says. Massachusetts officials believe that keeping uncashed checks could be an incentive to deny legitimate redemption claims. "It's almost like the old bait and switch," says Massachusetts State Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill. Please close these scammers down!!!!
