Claimed that they did not receive the original product box top with the product name and bar code. Original had been sent. I replied to their letter by sending a clear photocopy of the original submission asking that they correct their error and send me the $40 rebate. 2 weeks later they replied with the same form letter saying that I failed to compy with the rebate requirements. I will call the 800 number next, but am not hopeful of getting a favorable resolution. Either incompetence, or a scam by the Microsoft Rebate Center. Managers must be rewarded for rebate denials. I purchased this product at Staples. Their rebate system is outstanding. I wonder if they are aware of the problems with the Microsoft rebate program, and if they are, why they would tolerate it!

I bought Office 2007 with the promise of a $50 rebate. I sent in all required documentation and got no reply. I sent in copies two more times but the 2nd and third time were after the expiration date. I explained that I sent the original before the expiration date, but only got robotic replies of how the expiration date had passed. They never even acknowledged my comments of submitting everything prior to the deadline. I can now proudly say I am an Apple user and user of google documents. I have a feeling that the recent news on Gates stepping down to do his charitable work is more him bailing as he can see his company can only go down from here.

To get paid for two $20 rebates I had to send in one ORIGINAL boxtop with UPC to EACH address. Implossible!!! The 2nd rebate I mailed had only a note referring to the 1st. I rather doubt I'll get paid for that one.

Claimed they did not receive proper proof of purchase. Toll free number provided, but the person did not know what I needed nor had details of what I had submitted (like a scan) so could not tell me what I needed to do differently.

Microsoft sent me a form letter saying they would not honor my rebate due to lack of proof of purchase. My receipt was not returned, nor was any of the paperwork. I sent the only barcode that was on the package. It seems that denial of the first submission is becoming the norm for most rebate offers. I will no longer buy items with rebates if possible.
