I found I could download an invoice copy. Turns out the packing list had all the same required info, such as name, address, item number, date, how paid, price. In other words, I sent everything necessary to prove the sale and the rebate request was legit. OK, they didn't intially get an invoice copy from me, but the packing list had everything on it, too. They could've processed the rebate with no problem. I really think they were looking for any reason possible to deny the rebate.
I was told in June I could resubmit. More weeks pass. Finally e-mailed them to either send the rebate, or tell me why I was being denied, and I was going to contact the Ok. Atty. Gen. to let them know what the company was pulling. More weeks pass, I get a note that the rebate's been approved and I'd get a check within 3 weeks. No check after 3 weeks. It finally came, in late August, about 9 months after submission.
I would strongly recommend you not buy from Machspeed if you expect a rebate. I truly think that they put you off hoping you'll give up. The $20 wasn't worth a bit of my time, but I just couldn't give up and reward them for being jerks.
I know Machspeed makes motherboards, and I have no clue about their quality. But, the player was hard to use and a piece of crap. (Got iPod next Christmas, happy now.) I wouldn't buy anything from Machspeed, regardless of quality, just because of the horrid customer support. Guys buying products from MachSpeed with mail-in rebates better think twice before buying. Unless you like to complaint to BBB and waste your time contacting MachSpeed customer support.
I did Google search on "Mach Speed Rebate" too late. It indicates tons of customers reporting about MT frauds.

And in both cases (along with hundreds more cited on sites like this), they denied claims with bogus explanations, changing causes for rejections (3 times in my case) after refutation.
Mach Speed is clearly fraudulant in my opinion, and their strategy is aimed at wearing down people's patience to collect valid rebates.
In the end, I had to take the claim to the Oklahoma Attorney General's office for investigation. The time involved wasn't worth the stupid rebate, but on principle, I felt it was important to do. I suggest the attorney general route for anyone who is interested in seeing these guys punished.

This has become quite an experience which I have shared with many. Imagine yourself in this situation. Waiting Seven months and counting for a rebate promised in 8-10 weeks. Please reply with a name and contact number to an escalation area.

On 7/13 I was assured my rebate would be processed by Linda Wade, Rebate Superviser. It has been almost 6 months since purchse. I will certainly never buy from Machspeed again but please process $40 now.

However, the good news is that I had purchased the product through TigerDirect which has a rebate guarantee - if you follow their instructions when submitting the rebate. You need to mail the rebate via certified mail, which I did. For some reason I had a sneaking suspicion that I'd have problems with this rebate and didn't want to lose $40. I finally received the $40 from TigerDirect. However, after mailing in the required rebate guarantee information (which included a photocopy of my USPS return receipt for the original rebate submission), I had to follow up with multiple emails to get the rebate. At least TigerDirect credited my credit card account, so I didn't have to wait for a check.
