OfficeMax gives rebates the axe PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 29 June 2006

The OfficeMax retail chain announced a plan to eliminate almost all mail-in rebates from the chain's stores -- replacing the offers with instant savings.

Consumer complaints led to the change, which came only about one month after OfficeMax launched a new checkout system that was supposed to make the rebate submission process simpler. The plan was to print all mail-in information on the back of receipts, to make the process easier for consumers. Apparently, that was not enough.

Software products that have mail-in rebates included in the packaging are the only items OfficeMax says will continue to include mail-in rebates.
